Telecom Radio One: Phil Howard Interviews Jason Gintert
The earliest interview in the archive. Eleven minutes with Phil Howard, the most bearded man in telecom, on where enterprise connectivity was heading, less than a year into WAN Dynamics.
Telecom Radio One. Published 25 January 2017. Host: Phil Howard. Eleven minutes.
This is the oldest thing in the media archive, and it shows. WAN Dynamics was eleven months old, SD-WAN was something I still had to define in every meeting, and Phil Howard, billed then as now as the most bearded man in telecom, had me on his show to talk about where enterprise connectivity was going. Phil is a telecom broker who thinks about the business side first, so the conversation is less about how the technology works and more about why a company would change how it buys the WAN.
Most of what I said in 2017 turned out to be right, which is either a compliment to the technology or a sign that the questions were easy. Either way, it is a short watch and a useful marker for how far the conversation has moved since. Phil and I would do this again at more length a couple of years later on his Dissecting Popular IT Nerds series, with a customer in the room.
