SD-WAN Failover Demonstration
Three minutes, no slides. An impromptu demo of pulling a circuit out of a VeloCloud edge and watching the call keep going. This is the moment that convinced me SD-WAN was real, recorded so I could stop describing it.
WAN Dynamics demo video. Published 14 November 2017. Three minutes.
I have told the story on a dozen podcasts: I plugged two circuits into a VeloCloud edge, yanked the primary, lost one ping, and decided to start a company. This is that demonstration, recorded impromptu in 2017 because explaining seamless failover to people was taking longer than showing it.
There are no slides and no narration worth transcribing. A circuit gets unplugged, the session stays up, and the overlay re-steers traffic before anyone on the other end would notice. If you want the explanation of what is happening underneath, the path probing, the sub-second convergence and the forward error correction, the Art of Network Engineering episode from 2023 walks through all of it. This is just the three minutes that made the rest of it worth talking about.
