Ohio Networking User Group virtual meeting, Winter 2020

Ohio Networking User Group, Winter 2020 virtual meeting. Held February 2020; recording published by Ohio IX in November 2021. About 70 minutes.

Before there was a US Networking User Association there was the (OH)NUG, the Ohio Networking User Group, rotating quarterly between Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo. This recording is one of its meetings from the winter of 2020.

What is in it

The format was the one every NUG still uses. First, a presentation on the Ohio IX, the volunteer-run internet exchange keeping Ohio traffic in Ohio instead of hauling it to Chicago or Ashburn and back. Then a panel of working network engineers talking through the state of the industry and what was on their plates.

It is a useful snapshot of the moment right before everything changed. Within weeks, COVID stopped in-person events entirely, and the time that bought us is what turned the Ohio format into the template behind the USNUA's chapters across the country.
