Driving Rapid Healthcare Enterprise Growth with SD-WAN
A VeloCloud webinar I hosted with Curtis McEwen of Saber Healthcare on scaling a healthcare network through acquisition without the WAN becoming the bottleneck.
VeloCloud Webinar Series. Published 19 September 2017. Hosted by me for WAN Dynamics, with Curtis McEwen of Saber Healthcare. 54 minutes.
Saber Healthcare was one of the WAN Dynamics customers that made the case for SD-WAN better than any pitch I could give: a healthcare operator growing quickly through acquisition, where every new facility needed to be on the network fast, reliably, and without an engineer on site for a week. VeloCloud asked us to tell that story as part of their webinar series, so I hosted and Curtis McEwen from Saber's IT team walked through it from the customer side.
What we covered
Why the traditional model of ordering a private circuit per site and waiting months does not survive an acquisition schedule. How Saber used SD-WAN to bring new facilities online on whatever connectivity was available and standardize them afterward. What changed operationally for a lean IT team once the WAN could be managed from one place, and the compliance and voice considerations that come with healthcare specifically. It is a 2017 webinar with all that implies for production values, but the customer perspective still holds up, and it is one of the few recordings of a real deployment story from the early days rather than a panel about the technology in general.
