*Built in Ohio, Episode 23\. Published 29 July 2020\. 38 minutes.*

Built in Ohio told the stories of people building companies and communities in the state, and this episode was mine, in the summer of 2020 when WAN Dynamics was four years old and the Ohio Networking User Group was still a statewide thing rather than a national one. The title has "networking" in quotes on purpose, because we spent as much time on the human kind as the technical kind.

## What we covered

How I got started in technology, which begins with BASIC on a Commodore VIC-20 at seven years old, runs through the late-1990s ISP boom, and ends up with me surviving to tell the tale. The path to founding my own company, and what WAN Dynamics was built to do in the emerging NetDevOps space. And the (OH)NUG, the Ohio Networking Users Group I co-founded and was president of, which the show notes describe accurately as industry experts, engaging topics and a lot of beer. Within a couple of years it would become the USNUA; at the time, it was already a statewide network of networkers, which is what the host wanted to hear about.
